Daily Fika at 205 Coffee

It has been a crazy week over here on the Wendling & Boyd front. Finals at school are finishing up as we speak (I'm currently shaking with a cup of coffee in hand). I'm trying to finish things up but I still take a moment for myself in the morning and grab myself a cup of coffee. With 205 Coffee Bar opening up in Holland, MI last week. I wanted to make my way over to the new shop. I texted my good friend, Morgan, who enjoys having fika as well. I grabbed a cortado and she grabbed a latte and we just took a load off. With it opening the day before, they didn't have their wifi set up so we did have a nice quality fika. It's always nice to have people around you that are like minded. Yes surround yourself with a plethora of people but sometimes it's nice to see an outside perspective. Sometimes new perspectives bring about new things.

Daily Fika: Contrast Coffee + Red House Vt +A Question of Eagles

This morning I want to take a breather from the intense posting and to sit with a cup of coffee. I want to observe and allow myself to take some Tyler time to look at some gorgeous photos from my favorite makers. These Daily Fika post are exactly like the Fika posts where I somewhat talk about what's going on but its evolving into something where I want to show you guys what are my weekly maker and inspirations of the week. Whenever I have free time, I'm usually scrolling on pinterest or looking through instagram seeing what my favorite shops, makers, coffee shops have going on. It's a beautiful place, this creative world we live in. Regardless with what is going on in the world, there are these still moments where hope is there.

Daily Fika 9: Tina Rae Gibbs

The day that school got out, I made some plans to celebrate. I got dinner at Donkey with some friends but then I decided...as you know... to grab a cup of coffee. My friend Tina Rae Gibbs and I have been instagram friends for months now and I texted to her to see if she wanted to join me.  We grabbed coffee at Rowster and just relaxed. We took a break from our busy lives and had our moment of Fika. We talked about our lives and about each other's work. Then we ventured out to take some pictures in the snow. Tina is a wedding photographer from Grand Haven who loves coffee as much as I do.

Daily Fika - Saturday Pour Overs

Saturday morning coffee is always a daily fika that I've always loved. Even when I was young, I would be drinking my Grandma Boyd's cold sugary folgers because she didn't like when her coffee got cold. Yes, having coffee at such a young age was probably not the best thing in the world but...hey...It was basically sugary milk by the time my Grandma finished making it. With my tastes becoming developed since those early days, I have a simple way of making a pour over for you guys. Featuring Hand and Fire Ceramics and a beautiful kitchen.
