Camp Coffee with Heirloom Coffee Co.

When in Rome (Gatlinburg) right? I've always wanted to try this but never had the chance to do so. Emily and I got back from our long day of hiking and I was in desperate need for some caffeine. With also wanting to do a campfire (which the camp store closing at 5, we got back at 6 and forgot to get fire wood). We did what we could, picked up sticks and leaves, and it took off. I had packed my aeropress because it's the easiest to make and not hard to transport.

Hiking with La Colombe

This week has been an interesting one. With school starting to come to a close and the summer approaching, there are times where all you want to do is escape the city and go for a hike. My roommate Dee and I were out grabbing some groceries and we found La Colombe's draft latte at our local grocery store. We grabbed a couple and decided to make our way to the trail that Dee had frequented in the past. I grabbed my camera, our draft latte's and we headed out on the trail.

Detroit Coffee Guide: Astro Coffee

As you all know, I've been focusing on heritage and the American made but I want to in a way that is more well rounded than just goods, coffee, and makers. Today, I wanted to kick off the new year with something that has been pretty apparent on the blog but more than the "Daily Fika" posts that I've been posting throughout the year. As of now, I'm planning on meeting the owners of the shops that I go to but that's a furthering process that I'm still working on. But let's begin with a coffee shop that is near and dear to my heart.

Daily Fika - Saturday Pour Overs

Saturday morning coffee is always a daily fika that I've always loved. Even when I was young, I would be drinking my Grandma Boyd's cold sugary folgers because she didn't like when her coffee got cold. Yes, having coffee at such a young age was probably not the best thing in the world but...hey...It was basically sugary milk by the time my Grandma finished making it. With my tastes becoming developed since those early days, I have a simple way of making a pour over for you guys. Featuring Hand and Fire Ceramics and a beautiful kitchen.
